Cherokee Trail Decorative Painters at UCES

hello

MuralJune 18, 2008 - A colorful new mural is in the works at Union County Elementary School. Under the direction of Cherokee Trail Decorative Painters, approximately 70 students from the 3rd, 4 th, and 5th grade 21st Century Program are busy creating a whimsical undersea mural for the school’s Annex Building. The students are painting tropical fish of many different shapes while learning about color, composition, shading, and perspective. The mural includes seahorses, shrimp, crabs, lobster, starfish, sea urchins, squid, octopus, dolphin, jellyfish, stingray, an eel, a diver, coral, and ocean plants. Once completed, it will be a welcome addition to the building.

Suzane TiptonThe Cherokee Trail Decorative Painters picked an appropriate project for these children to do during the summer break by bringing a little bit of the ocean to Blairsville, Georgia. The undersea mural will add an artistic touch to the building for years to come. Thanks to this group of dedicated professionals for giving their time (and expertise) to the children at UCES.

The mission of the Cherokee Trail Decorative Painters is to educate young citizens to keep "art" alive. Anyone interested in this mission can contact the group at: P. O. Box 2543, Blairsville, GA 30514.
