September
3, 2008 - At the same time
that Hurricane Gustav was
slamming ashore in
Louisiana, the Geier
family was welcoming new
arrival, baby
Annabella Grace, into the world at
Union General Hospital.
After
mandatory evacuations
were issued to Louisiana
residents, the Geier family
headed north. Proud grandmother
Patricia Lewis says, “We
left Mandeville, Louisiana
on Saturday and went to
Birmingham, Alabama, before
deciding to come on up to
my sister’s place
in the Trackrock area of
Union County. It has been
a delightful experience;
Blairsville has been like
a little piece of heaven.”
Melanie,
Randy, and big sister
Liliana, welcomed little
Annabella to the
world on Monday, September
1 st at 10:32 a.m. Melanie
says, “She was born
on Labor Day and it’s
also the day that Gustav
hit.” She adds, “I’m
so glad I had my baby at
Union General Hospital.
The people have been so
nice, it’s unbelievable.”
Melanie’s
baby was due on September
6th but arrived about
a week early.
Melanie says, “Annabella
was born in just an hour
and fifteen minutes after
I arrived at the hospital.
She weighed 7 lbs. and 5
ounces. Thanks to Dr. Breedlove,
Dr. Davis, Nurse Lisa Tipton,
and everyone else that has
been taking such great care
of us.”
