June
13, 2007 - From the Tango
to Hip Hop, there's something
for everybody at Blairsville
School of Dance. If you've
ever wanted to dance, this
is the place to learn. There's
Ballroom, Latin, clogging,
ballet, and more. All you
have to do is sign up for
a class and give it a whirl.
At the recent grand opening,
Blairsville Union County
Chamber of Commerce President
Cindy Williams presented
Blairsville School of Dance
Director Angela Puleo with
a red ribbon and pair of
oversized scissors. Ambassadors,
friends, members of the
business community, and
family posed together for
a photo to commemorate the
occasion.
Blairsville School of Dance
offers a great lineup of
summer and fall classes.
Want to learn the Foxtrot,
Tango, East Coast Swing,
Rumba, Cha Cha, Salsa, or
Merengue? Beginners are
welcome and opportunity
for competition is provided
along with a year-end recital.
Several performances are
given each year in which
students may participate.
There are field trips, class
parties, and cook-outs.
Owner Angela Puleo says, "We
believe that by fostering
a sense of community, our
students not only have fun,
but perform better as a
group. They gain lasting
friendships."
Pre-registration is recommended,
as class space is limited
and classes fill up early.
Dancewear and shoes are
sold onsite. There are classes
for children age three and
up as well as for adults
and teenagers. Classes are
small to provide individual
instruction. Private lessons
are also available.
The school has a couple
of excellent competitive
dance teams - Hip Hop and
Precision Clogging. Both
teams hold auditions in
August for the upcoming
season. Involvement in competitive
dance helps teach discipline,
good sportsmanship, and
confidence.
Angela Puleo is well qualified
to direct a dance school.
She has been dancing since
she was two and has won
competitions in International
Latin and is also a Grand
Champion Clogger.
Angela and Joe Puleo have
been in the Blairsville
area for 3 years. Joe recently
opened the neighboring Napoli
's Deli and treated guests
to delicious sandwiches
and deli fare. Angela works
as Community Manager for
the American Cancer Society.
She adds, "I'll keep my
day job, but this is my
dream. I've always wanted
to open a dance studio."
Blairsville School of Dance
is happy to take part in
the ribbon cutting tradition
offered by the Chamber of
Commerce. The ceremony provides
an easy way for chamber
members to do some friendly
networking.
Blairsville
School of Dance is located
at 90C Blue Ridge Street
behind Napoli 's Italian
Deli and Market. For more
