Blairsville Hobby Shop recently hosted a Blairsville Union County Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting ceremony. Owner John Dougherty welcomed guests to the new store and said, "I'm getting new items all the time and will increase inventory according to what the community wants. I had a boy interested in rockets and some should be in stock soon."

Blairsville Hobby Shop is a fun place. There are Lionel trains, toy trains, model airplanes, helicopters, fishing supplies, knives, books, catalogs, and ball caps. There are two types of model cars, those that run on electric batteries and others that run on gas. Dougherty also sells parts and supplies.

Dougherty has been interested in trains for over 30 years and a model railroad is on display in the Hobby Shop showroom. The Blairsville Hobby Shop welcomes experienced hobby enthusiasts and beginners to drop in for a visit. There's something for everyone.

John Dougherty lives off of Pat Colwell Road in Union County and attends St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Blairsville Hobby Shop is located at 233 Hillcrest Plaza in Blairsville, Georgia. Business hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
