October
4, 2006 - The 1st Bunker
Hill School Reunion was
an interesting and emotional
day. The reunion on September
16 was the first time
that the classmates had
been together in over 50
years.
Bunker
Hill School was held at
Bunker Hill Church in Union
County (Blairsville, Georgia).
The school closed its doors
in the 50's when students
were moved to Young Cane
School.
The
1st Bunker Hill School Reunion
was held at the original
Bunker Hill Church where
so many memories were made.
A list of names was obtained
from the Board of Education
and letters were sent out.
(Hopefully no one was missed.)
The planning committee requested
that guests bring any pictures,
stories, newspaper clippings,
keepsakes, or other souvenirs
that were kept through
the years. It was a fun
day for all.
The
Bunker Hill Church building
still stands in its original
location and looks pretty
much the same as it did
all those years ago.
The
building is still in use.
Local residents hold singings
there on Saturday nights
and God willing, regular
Church services may begin
soon.
