October
6, 2007 - The second annual
Bunker Hill School Reunion
was recently held at Meeks
Park. Former Bunker Hill
School students, families,
and friends enjoyed good
food, fellowship, and interesting
conversation.
This year a sound system
was set up so that everyone
could hear what was said.
Announcer Herbert Parham
did a great job with announcements
and news. A new group photo
was taken to hang beside
the old photo taken sometime
in the 1940's.
A highlight of the day
was the reading of Frances
Burns Davenport's essay
about her memories of the “good
old days” at Bunker Hill
and living in Union County
. Frances says, “I wrote
it in about twenty minutes
and my daughter (Amy Turner)
typed it up on her computer.
I could have gone on and
on but it would be too long.”
All ages enjoyed the school
reunion. Many of the former
classmates brought along
their grandchildren to spend
the day at Meeks Park. The
weather couldn't have been
better and the event was
fun for all that attended.
Many thanks to the planning
committee Imogene Hughes,
Helen Colwell, Laurine Abercrombie,
Herbert Parham, Paul Warren,
Vernon Patterson, Betty
Legg, Exola Gates, Leola
Lyons, Herbert Legg, and
all the other people that
made the day a success.
