Members of the Blairsville Union County Chamber of Commerce recently met to plan a special event. Merchants gathered at Birdyard Seed Company to discuss the anticipated Hometown Candlelight Shopping Experience.

Vicky Shirey came up with the idea and is working hard to plan the event. With the help of Renee Brock, it is expected to be a huge success.

The event will take place before Christmas on Thursday nights, December 1st, 8th, 15th, and the 22nd. That's four nights of shopping fun! Please mark your calendars.

Participating stores will be open later than usual (until 8 p.m. ) to allow Union County citizens the chance to shop in their own hometown.

Why drive to other places when there are many nice shops and stores right here in Blairsville? Save that extra gas money and spend it on a nice gift while supporting your local businesses at the same time.

Merchants will offer Thursday night specials and discounts. They will serve refreshments and promise lots of holiday cheer.

This is going to be a fun and festive event. Plan to see the Christmas lights, enjoy hot chocolate, listen to Christmas carols, and shop, shop, shop!
