January 16, 2010 - Charlie Payne's whirly gig creations brighten up Union County
Charlie Payne's colorful windmills, whirly gigs, and dragonflies will bring a smile to your face. Made of mostly recycled materials, the creations are now for sale in Union County.
Charlie began making his custom windmills, bugs, and other metal sculptures four months ago when unemployment forced him to find something else to do. Charlie says, "I thought it might be a way to make a little extra money. I developed the patterns and Louise, my wife, picks out the colors."
He adds, "I'm thinking about getting more serious with the next ones - maybe wiring them up to an alternator. A little free power would be a good thing, especially the way electricity keeps going up."
The windmills are located at 85 Nottely Dam Road, Blairsville, Georgia. For more information about the windmills and other metal sculptures please call (706) 745-4253.
