On
August 5, 2007 Dave Schiell
bowled nineteen strikes
in a row, twelve of which
gave him a perfect game.
For this accomplishment,
he was awarded a “300 Pin” by
Galaxy Bowling Manager Josh
Klein on August 9, 2007.
It all happened during
open bowling night. As excitement
mounted, everyone gathered
around to watch Dave's winning
streak. The resulting perfect
game was Schiell's first.
It
started with three consecutive
strikes at the end of the
1st game. Next was a perfect
game (with twelve more strikes
and a score of 300). Dave
Schiell went on to throw
4 more strikes at the beginning
of the 3 rd game to make
a grand total of 19 strikes
in a row!
Schiell says, “I was thinking
that if I got tapped on
a good hit, it'd be OK.
I just didn't want to throw
a bad ball. It didn't sink
in until late in the 2 nd
game what was happening.
I said to myself ‘Stay cool
and make a good shot.' I
had bowled a 297, a 298,
and a 299 before but never
a 300.”
Neville
Smith says, “This
is only the 5 th award pin
ever given at this facility
and the 1st since Galaxy
Bowling took over in 2004.”
Dave says he has a place
for the award pin. “I just
built a cabinet for my trophies
and (honor score) rings.
I have the perfect place
for this 300 Pin.”
Schiell
is a retired police officer
from Arlington, Texas,
where he participated in
league bowling. He currently
resides in Murphy, NC with
his wife Barb. They have
three children and four
grandchildren.
Many people drive from
neighboring towns to bowl
at Blairsville's Galaxy
Bowling Center . The facility
is well known for having
a professional and friendly
staff and is a great asset
to our community. Whether
league bowling, just beginning,
or looking for a place to
host a group event, Galaxy
Bowling is a fun family
destination.
Congratulations to Dave Schiell
for bowling a perfect game
and getting all those strikes
in a row!
