November
8, 2007 - Members of Beta
Epsilon are at it again.
They recently gave out free
dictionaries to every fourth
grade student at Union County
Elementary School . Beta
Epsilon President Debra
Collins and Vice President
Eva Decker visited classrooms
to personally hand out the
books. Assistant Principle
Angie Burns and United Community
Bank Representative Sharon
Arnold were on hand to show
support for the dedicated
ladies of the Beta Epsilon
Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma
Society.
Almost seven million children
have received a dictionary
due to The Dictionary Project.
The Dictionary Project is
a nonprofit organization
with a goal of assisting
all students to complete
the school year as good
writers, active readers,
and creative thinkers. The
dictionaries are a gift
to each student to use at
school and at home for years
to come.
Delta Kappa Gamma Society
International is a professional
honor society of women educators.
Established in 1929, the
society recognizes achievements
of women educators, offers
opportunities to enhance
leadership development,
and funds diverse learning
opportunities.
The Beta Epsilon Chapter
of Delta Kappa Gamma partners
with United Community Bank
to participate in the Dictionary
Project. The children receive
immediate and long term
results. They get to keep
the dictionary, use it at
school, and take it home.
The dictionaries not only
help with spelling and writing,
but help build a better
vocabulary. Dictionaries
are an essential tool for
a quality education.
The local
community and the Union
County Elementary School
fourth graders would like
to send a big "thank-you" to
the ladies of Beta Epsilon.
