December
2007 - Gary Brown recently
bowled a perfect game of
300 at Galaxy Bowling Lanes
in Union County. The sanctioned
300 game was bowled in a
normal USBC (United States
Bowling Congress) certified
league and is the 2 nd sanctioned
300 score in 14 years to
take place at this bowling
lane.
Brown, a resident of Murphy,
North Carolina , says, “Jim
McCreary got me started
bowling six years ago. This
is my first time bowling
a 300 and I'll probably
be sleeping with my 300
game award pin tonight!” Brown,
who carries a 191 average
adds, “I want to dedicate
this award pin to my dad,
Bob Brown of Murphy, and
to Mayor Dan Nichols of
Young Harris.”
Night Manager Cherrie Bellassai
presented Gary Brown with
his shiny new award pin.
A 300 ring will be awarded
to Brown in the near future.
USBC officials will be visiting
Galaxy Bowling to do a lane
certification and the ring
is scheduled to be awarded
at that time.
Lane certifications help
maintain standard bowling
conditions. Lanes are checked
and measured each season
to assure equipment meets
specifications. Pins, automatic
pin setting machines, scoring
devices, and other equipment
undergo thorough and lengthy
testing before receiving
approval for use in USBC
sanctioned league or tournament
competition.
Congratulations go to Gary
Brown for his accomplishment
of bowling a perfect score.
