December 15, 2007 - A free
Christmas celebration was
recently held at the Blairsville
Civic Center. The annual
event called “Season
of Giving” provided families
in need with a delicious
meal, fellowship, presents,
entertainment, and a visit
from Santa.
Pam Hinson, organizer of
the event, says, “God is
our light and our hope.
He only wants our love and
for us to believe in him.”
Entertainment went on throughout
the evening. Forgiven provided
live gospel music, a ballet
performance was given by
Aspen Fine, and singing
by Charlie Hinson and friends
rounded out the line-up.
Santa Claus arrived to
the delight of the children,
packages were given to every
child, and groceries were
sent home with many parents.
A life-sized Christmas tree
was raffled off at the end
of the evening and went
home with one lucky family.
Pam and Charlie raised money
for the dinner by taking donations
and putting out jars to collect
spare change. They would like
to say thank you to Commissioner
Lamar Paris for the use of
the Civic Center, William
Gray and Sue Garrett for equipment
and time, Hughes Store for
jar, Rick Hughes for time
and donations, Rosie and Liz
Hallam for gifts and donations,
Winkler and Winkler for donations,
The Big Cheese for Jar, Lost
Creek for jar, Rick's Rentals
for jar and donations, Builder's
Way for jar, Steve's Cookie
Jar for jar, Cook's Restaurant
for jar and food, Hole in
the Wall for jar, the Catfish
Corner Restaurant for food
and tables, Jennifer Smith
for DJ services at the dance
to raise money in November,
Dean and Vickie Hollingsworth
for food, time, and jar, Shawn
Chambers and family for time,
donations, and food, Ann Franklin
for helping with the dance,
and everybody else who gave
time and donations to the
Season of Giving.
