October 22, 2010 - Ken’s Herbs for everyone
Ken and Elaine Young have served thousands of people during the past nineteen years. Their little Union County store has a big heart where customers feel right at home.
Ken’s Herbs is a place where everyone is welcome to ask questions and make suggestions. Ken says, “I take herbal products myself and wanted to offer them to others. Our overhead is low so our prices can stay low. Everyone can afford to shop here.”
Ken has a great sense of humor. He jokes with shoppers and can always come up with a funny story or two. He says, “I’ve seen a lot of changes in Union County over the years especially with the roads. We have gone from dirt roads to paved highways. I remember when the roads were so full of mud holes that the school buses would get stuck going down hill.”
He continues, “We have lots of regular customers. Some are big, some are little. They are fat, skinny, loud, quiet, tall, and short. Some are rich and some are so poor they can’t even pay attention.”
“We see people from all walks of life in here. Doctors, lawyers, nurses, and veterinarians walk through the door with their shopping lists. They send their patients and clients here. Some can’t even walk. If we have to, we carry what they need out to their cars. We do whatever is necessary to help our customers.”
Ken’s Herbs sells gluten free products, protein powders, herbal supplements, dried fruits, healthy snacks, whole dried herbs, herbal tinctures, Bach flower remedies, homeopathic medicines, essential oils, health foods, vitamins, green drinks, natural beauty products, Burt’s Bees products, organic nuts and oils, handmade soaps, and a good selection of raw honey. They also have a huge selection of herbal teas with close to a hundred varieties including everything from astragalus to yellow dock.
