September 2009 - La Carreta Restaurant opens at Union Station in Blairsville, Georgia
Owners Mireya Maribona, Roberto Gomez, Dianek Santos, Pedro Velunza and their families would like to invite everyone to dine at La Carreta Restaurant in Blairsville, Georgia. Favorite Cuban and American dishes are on the menu including breakfast specials, sandwiches, soups, stews, and delicious dinner entrees.
Breakfast items include regular American fair such as bacon and eggs plus several different kinds of omelets, bagels, pastries, and of course, Cuban Espresso. Lunch choices include a Cuban sandwich (roasted pork marinated in Cuban Mojito with ham and Swiss cheese), steak sandwich (with grilled onions, lettuce and tomato), and a ham croquette sandwich - all on Cuban bread. Dinner items include shrimp sautéed in garlic and olive oil, grilled fish, chicken, steak, or pork chops with side dishes for every taste - rice, black beans, mashed potatoes, fried plantains, cassava, French fries, and salads. Featured desserts include flan (egg custard), Tres Leches (Three Milk Cake), rice pudding, ice cream, and milk shakes.
La Carreta Restaurant is family owned and operated. Originally from Havana , the owners have been full time residents of Union County for several years. Roberto says, "We came here on vacation and decided it would be a great place to raise our children. We would like to give a special thanks to Ron Pitts for donating much needed and greatly appreciated equipment."
