December 15, 2007 - There are lots of manger scenes around Union County in 2007. From small arrangements to life size creations, they are all charming additions to the landscape.

Manger scenes are a great way to decorate for Christmas. Bright lights are beautiful and animated reindeer are fun for kids, but manger scenes depict what the holiday season is really all about.

Every time I see a manger scene, whether lovingly handcrafted or purchased from the dollar store, I think about baby Jesus and why he was born into this world. As the song goes, “ A way in a manger, no crib for a bed, the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay, the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. T he cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, but little Lord Jesus no crying he makes. I love thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, and stay by my side until morning is nigh.” Thanks to all the businesses and families that display manger scenes.
