Successful Food 4 Food Drive at Hometown Halloween

hello

Peg Shaw with Susie and Mark BrendleNovember 5, 2008 - The DDA and the Promotions Committee would like to thank everyone that brought food to the collection center during Hometown Halloween on the Square. Over 30 cases of canned goods and other non-perishable items were collected for the local food pantry. What a great community we live in! Parents, children, teenagers, and other citizens took time out of their busy schedules to gather up canned goods and bring them to the event.

Three gift baskets, filled with certificates from local restaurants, were given away. Sharla Dupuis, Vince Roebuck, and Joe Boris were the lucky winners. They will get to enjoy a week’s worth of meals including everything from country style breakfasts to delicious pizza to freshly baked donuts.

Many local restaurants donated gift certificates including Brasstown Valley Resort, Copperhead Lodge, Papa's Pizza, Comfort Café, Hole in the Wall, Seafood 2 Go, Griddle Café, Grinds n Glazes, Blimpie's, Dales Hot Dog House, Zaxby's, Hilltop Café, Prete's Pizza, Downtown Pizza, J& J Café, Shake Healthy, Waffle House, Blairsville Restaurant, Cook's Country Kitchen, Mike's Seafood, Fatz Café, Popie's BBQ, Cookie Jar, Sawmill, Panther Pub, and Antoinetta's. Thanks for their generosity and support. Thanks also to Julia Berger for opening up the food pantry on Halloween night.

9th District Representative for Union County Shawn Howell says, “Donations are always welcome. People can drop off items at the Civic Center.
