July 11, 2008 - Local
artist Linda Denison recently
participated in Atlanta's
Virginia Highlands 25th
Summerfest and won an “Award
of Merit” for
her paintings. The 2008
Summerfest featured the
work of over 200 juried
folk artists, fine artists,
and craftsmen from all over
the Southeast.
Linda
has collected numerous
awards - so many that she
has lost count! She is featured
in private and corporate
collections, as well as
galleries throughout the
United States and Europe.
Among her many patrons are
art enthusiasts and collectors.
Ms.
Denison works with various
mediums including
acrylics, pastels, clay,
handmade fiber papers, and
found objects. Besides painting
on canvas, she also does
mosaics, murals, pottery,
and decorative painting.
Denison
sold her first painting
at age 12 and has
been at it ever since. Linda
also worked as an interior
designer for House Beautiful
for twelve years before
starting her own business.
She works closely with clients
and interior designers doing
murals, faux finishes, custom
paintings on commission,
and model homes for designers.
Linda's creations often
include florals, whimsical
animals, tropical themes,
Asian influences, and contemporary
abstracts. She is versatile
and prolific, producing
many new works-of-art each
year. She says, "Design,
color, and texture have
always been a big part of
who I am."
As
a native of Florida, Linda
is well-known in the Sunshine
State, both for her collages
and "Women
of Distinction" series (portraits of real women
doing real things). Linda
has called Blairsville home
for 10 years. She says, "I
love it here in the North
Georgia Mountains. The natural
beauty of the area combined
with my spiritual relationship
with God has been very inspirational.
I think I have done some
of my best work here in
Blairsville.” Those
who judge her work apparently
think so too.
Linda
is heavily into the art
festival scene, participating
in a dozen or more shows
a year. She is now offering
classes in mixed media painting
and mosaics. With her flair
for teaching and her energetic
personality, classes are
productive and fun. She
adds, "Students
work at their own pace and
leave with their very own
masterpiece." Commissions
and design consultations
are welcome. For more information,
