August 15, 2008 - The Lollipop
Shop recently celebrated
its grand opening with a
Blairsville Union County
Chamber of Commerce and
Towns County Chamber of
Commerce ribbon cutting
ceremony. Guests enjoyed
browsing through the colorful
display of candy and toys.
The Lollipop Shop carries
over 300 kinds of candy,
over 50 flavors of Jelly
Belly jelly beans, over
20 colors of M&Ms, over
80 kinds of wind-up toys,
retro toys, vintage pedal
cars, and old fashioned
Coke-a-Cola products (in
glass bottles). They offer
unique parties, too. With “Stuff
a Buddy” in-store
parties, Parties-to-Go,
candy buffets for weddings
(and showers), and gift
certificates, options are
as varied as the imagination.
Owner Perry Prewett says, “While
traveling for my sales job,
I stopped in Jonesborough,
Tennessee, and happened
to go into a Lollipop Shop.
What I saw was intriguing…I
fell in love with the place
and decided to open a franchise
in the Hiawassee area. I
literally went from selling
nuts and bolts to selling
candy within a month’s
time.”
The Lollipop Shop is an
interactive candy and toy
store with “shopper-tainment”.
Visitors shop in a whimsical
setting and choose from
a wide variety of candy
and toys. Candy selections
include Rock Candy, BB Bats,
Kits, Mary Jane, Razzles,
Pop Rocks, Nik-N-Lip, Wax
Lips, Sugar Daddy, Bullseye,
Chic-O-Stick, and many,
many more. The “Stuff
a Buddy” is especially
popular with the younger
crowd. There are over 40 “buddies” to
choose from including Calico
Kitty, Cinnamon Bear, Gigi
the Giraffe, Moo-Moo the
Cow, and Swinger the Monkey.
Fundraising opportunities
are available for school
groups, churches, boy scouts,
girl scouts, youth groups,
and other non-profit organizations.

The Lollipop Shop, “You’re
